Hud Problem
I have a '00 MN6 Convertible with HUD. The display on the HUD works fine but it is positioned down too low on the windshield to see in a comfortable driving position. The UP/DOWN adjustment doesn't work, could the problem be with the contacts in the modual or the motor that moves the display itself. If a fix is required does the windshield have to be removed to get at the HUD unit? Also the telescopic function doesn't work, I tried the 8 clicks back and forth trick but nothing. Could the two problems related. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
Windshield does NOT need to come out. The dash will though assuming its a problem with the projector unit. I believe the way it adjusts the up and down mechanism is in the projector itself with mirrors. a new projector is close to 200 bucks. I would check all the connections first. Does the brightness feature work on the HUD? If not, it might simply be a problem with the switch itself.

Thanks for the input guys. I have no idea which fuse control's the HUD or telescoping wheel, if anyone out there does please let me know. The dimmer on the HUD is fine, same with the paging, I guess that it is just the refracting mirror motor controls (how's that for techie talk) that is messed up. I'm not looking forward to taking apart the entire instrument cluster, looking at the link that was sent to me by Dr. Dan, dissarming the North Koreans seems like an easier task.

Ok heres the deal with the HUD. The gauge cluster is the main unit. The switch with the dimmer, and page button connect to the cluster via an 11 wire harness thats a bout a foot long. Based on the inputs from the switch, the cluster decides what you want and then send the signal to the the projector. The projector itself plug into the back top of the gauge cluster and is actually held in place by 3 mounting points. My feeling is that the switch, 11 wire harness, and cluster are all fine. This leaves the projector itself. Removing the dash is medium difficult just because of its size. The tools you use to remove it, everyone has or are easily obtainable. After the dash is removed, you can disconnect the projector from the cluster unit, and the cluster unit from the monster wiring harness that goes to the computer somewhere in the car. After that, the cluster comes right out and you have direct access to the 3 mounting points for the projector. I have a set of directions for most of this because i installed HUD in my non-HUD car. Pictures are included but the damn thing is 5mb so its kind of a large word document. i can send it to your email if you wish. If you simply take your time, you really cant screw it up...its just a bunch or screws. The hardest part is getting the glovebox out (just because of where the screws are located) and the dash back in (because its so big).
I have the same issue. I think it is the mirror that reflects the image to the windshield or the projector is loose. I noticed that my display would get lower and lower till now I can't even see it at max up adjustment.
i've got a spare hud and switch, if you were local i'm sure we could figure this out in an hour, i'd put money on the hud harness(cluster to switch) works itself loose

Other side of the continent my friend, I do have relatives on Long Island though. I will take it to a mechanic friend on Saturday and see what we can figure out. We have to look at the Climate Control panel display (hopefully just a quick fix) and look at the Window Control moldule while we are at it. I hate gremlins.

It's always easier to blow things up than fix them.
Check your fuses first, before you take things apart. The two systems aren't connected so with some luck, one or both may be an easy fix. I'm betting on switches, however some motors freeze if not moved periodically.
