I just switched out my stock coolant tank with a new Torch Red tank. The new tank didn't come with the sensor, so I took the one out of my stock tank and plugged it into the new tank. Now I get a 'low coolant' message on the DIC. I just unbolted the new tank, unplugged the connector, and removed the sensor, tipping the tank up so no coolant would run out. I lightly cleaned the contacts on the sensor and re-installed, but am still getting the message. By the way, there is PLENTY of coolant in the tank. Any ideas? Can a new sensor be purchased without buying an entire tank assembly?
On the parts maunal it sensor is listed with the tank. So, there is no part # for me to look up.
I am sure someone will chime in with a solution.
Good luck
From what I understand, a new sensor cannot be purchased separate from the entire tank assembly. I have read that the sensor is molded into the tank, but mine just pulled out and easily installed in the new tank. The sensor has a rubber seal that keeps it nice and snug.
This may not be related to your problem, but this TSB is related to low coolant sensor tripping issues on your model year. Look at the instructions to ensure the tank is properly leveled front to back.
Also, I'm not sure if theres any alignment marks on the sensor when you plug it into the new tank, but since it's a float type sensor I would expect it needs to be positioned such that the float is vertically installed correctly, i.e. which way is up.
