After my 98 A4 is warmed up there are times that I get a rough idle or almost feels like a misfire , not sure really what it is. I have toughts of replacing plugs and wires but don't really want to go that route if that's not the issue. What is felt is..... at idle or stopped in first gear, The car jolts or shakes just once then stops, only does it randomly. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
i do have security clearence. soooooooo how many miles on it? maybe pull a plug check gap ? you aint from that crew that run green anti freeze and cheap gas are you
1.Check the plugs
2.Check the plug wires
3.Clean the throttle body with some carb. cleaner
4. Clean the Maf with carb. cleaner
5.Clean the air cleaner or replace(look for a air restriction)
6. Even a slight vaccum leak can cause a rough idle.
This is just a start. Most of the idle issues can be just about anything simple to a rather complex problem.Cleaning the throttle body and the Maf is just a matter of buying a can of carb cleaner. You can go on and on.Good hunting!!

Thanks for all the help, I think i got it. Coming out of the top of the valve cover on the drivers side was an elbow pcv hose that had a hole in it. SO that is good news tha I think i found it ,but Ive looked all over for a replacment and had no luck. Pep boys , advanced auto etc. Chevy wants to sell me the entire section for 50 bucks, I said get outta here. I may just use 3/8 straight hose even though I removed an elbow section. What do you think , any thoughts?
