Default Help finding power / ground in pass footwell.

Hey guys,

I figured I would give it a try to hardwire my valentine. Im looking for a good switched power wire in the pass. footwell area and a good ground.

Anyone know locations or wire colors or have any good pics or anything that can help me? Im stumped and having a hard time finding a good power wire...

Thanks guys

pull the cover off and look up in the top left corner of the well....there is a plug with 3 wires...yellow orange and black...they are taped off thats the plug....use a multimeter to determine which is switched and which is hot...if I recall the orange is switched and yellow is hot..but do your own check to make sure...lemme see if I can find a pic...

I honestly don't mean to sidetrack this thread....
I've got a semi-stupid question.

The "rear view" mirror has power going to it. Anyone know what voltages are present there, and if it can be tap'd into for a radar detector ?

Yes it can, many of us with Escorts and Valentines do just that.

You guys never cease to amaze me. Thanks so much... Saved me the hassle of busting out my logic probe or multimeter.

All right guys a little help here. How do you disengage the power plug on the back of the mirror. I'm having a hard time seeing it and thought it might help if I disconnected it and got it closer to eye level. Doesn't help that I'm color blind either so I really need to get this down and check myself w/ a meter. I feel what I think is a press down type release but it doesn't seem to be helping.

It's a Z06 if it matters

Thanks!

its a PITFA....I used to take the whole damn mirror down but you can turn the mirror far enough to get the meter probes in there...

It IS a push down tab. Mine needed to be pushed down and wiggled around pretty good to get it out.

IF I remember correctly on my 04 z - It's BROWN as a ignition source, and black for ground.
