Hi folks- After reading many of your posts and the "sticky" at the top of the page I called my dealer. He confirmed my 2000 coupe had the 04 recall work done.(I just bought this in May). I asked him about the 06 recall. He said there was no further recall.- so I printed the Feb. 06 recall and took it out to him. He finally admitted he knew "something about another recall". and then said. "We don't like to do this latest recall because we have to take the steering wheel off".
He then told me the column will never lock up while moving, and if it does ever lock up in the future to have it flatbedded to him and he'll do the recall work for free. (gee thanks)
I'm not going near this guy or the dealership again. My question is- can I install the columen lock bypass myself even though the car had the 04 recall work done. GM would be proud of this guy???? Thanks- Fred
First of all, taking the steering wheel off is a no brainer with the correct puller. Secondly (if that is a word) the CLB can just take the place of the gm k harness and the clb has a more reliable relay........
You know...even though you'll be better off with an after market CLB...
I'd contact GM Customer Service and indicate that the dealer refused to perform a TSB/Recall...that's just wrong...
