Default Back from the shop, two new codes.

I just picked my 2000 frc up from my buddies shop. New wheels and tires and pads. Now the car has two error codes.

"Service Column Lock"

"Service Tire Mon System"

So my question is back to the shop or over to Chevrolet.

the tire sensors my need to be reset after the wheel change. there is a how to thread somewhere on here about it. the service C/L is the sign that you need to get a clb for your car or you will be stranded at some point in time. you can have the recall done and hope the k-harness doesnt fail or get a clb from one the the forum venders. thunder racing or corvettes of huston. check out the sticky about the column lock problem.

BUT.... the 'new' GM fix for the column lock is to remove the locking plate. Have it done. This will eliminate the CLB harness and you'll be good to go.

trust me when i say this, it will not fix the problem. with the locking plate removed, the car will still get the pull key wait 10 seconds warning and the fuel shut off will still be programmed into the car. so the wheel will turn, but the car will still die. i know because this happened to me 3 times after the recall was done and the locking plate was removed. unless you know someone that can take the fuel cut off out of the system or can find a dealer that is able and willing to remove it ( good luck on that one ) the clb is the best choice.
