Default Ideas for a hood...

I am going to do a custom hood for one of my cars and looking for some feedback. What should I do?

Phil. Take a look at ACP hoods. I have one(heat extractor) and get many compliments. SAM

Okay you suck First a chopper and now another vette. What are you going to do with this one? TT I hope. Here is the perfect hood. My personal favorite.

Default Hoods

I would recommend one with some type of extraction vents. A world of difference in front end lightness at speed.

I vote you put a giant picture of Oprah on it. Oh wait, that's been done.

Figure out what you're making room for first. Sheet metal intake or whatever. Keep the line of the hood ie; the indentation that runs front to rear. You could section the hood and lift the center any height you need and flow the edges down.

My $.02.

Enjoy the hood. I think my car's too far gone to go back to stock anyways.

How about:

heat extractors left and right on the rear.
Quick release/lock for completely removing the hood with ease.
Bump up the middle like they do for the s/c hoods, but make it so you can put custom or store bought freezer packs in them.

For a little drama, you could put a bump on the drivers side for 2 or 3 guages.

Whatever you come up with I am sure it will be

Brilliant!

I really like the RK Sport hood that doesn't fit. If ya make two of those and it fits, I'll buy one!

Is it possible to cut into the stock hood and insert some preformed NACA-type ducts or louvers? I know some aftermarket performance catalogs sell these, and this would allow venting the engine compartment.
I guess I should say I know it's possible, but can it be done and have it turn out well without putting in so much time that it would have made more sense to just buy a whole new hood ?

By your profile, you chose to purchase an aftermarket hood and spoiler; some people like to tinker and make or do things themselves - for a variety of reasons. No one is looking to intentionally do anything cheesy with their car, although you can certainly see the entire gamut of cosmetic mods right here on the forum - tastes do vary, it would appear. Perhaps you are too hot with this weather and need to with a cold one
