Default Weird trans problem....02 Z06.

Well, lately I've been having the sticking stock clutch syndrome when it gets hot, but that's probably not directly related to my new problem.

I was going through the gears hard a few times last night. On the last run (after a few other spitrited romps), I went for fourth and missed it, or thought I did.....the thing would not go into fourth gear for a few minutes, only 5th and 6th were functional. After it cooled a little bit, I could use the other gears, but it shifts really strange, almost like the gates are all crooked, especially the 2nd gear location. It's like all the gears on the rear side of the gates (2,4,6) are shifted to the right (maybe 1/4" to 1/2") relative to 1,3,5.

Hopefully I'm explaning myself alright. The car has a Breathless shifter in it. I haven't checked out the shifter itself yet. Maybe I bent the rod that connects the shifter to the trans itself?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Unless you are Hercules you did not bend the rod. It sounds more like a synchro issue or lubrication problem.

What kind of trans fluid are you running and when was the last time that you changed it?

Well, it's fixed.

Turns out it was a very simple problem......the upper bolt retaining nut on the bolts that hold the shift handle to the base must have vibrated off, and was jammed between the shifter and the base.

Problem solved.
