Thinking about painting the calipers on my "99" Torch Red coupe. I'm going to use DupliColor "brush-on" paint. How close of a "match" is their red vs. Torch Red??
Thanks in advance....
Just did mine. Did a brake job so I removed the pads and cleaned the whole caliper with a small wire brush first b4 the brake cleaner.
Not sure how close color is but I used duplicolor too and then painted the CORVETTE logo with white touch up paint. I left mine dry for a whole day owing to the high humidity. Touched up a few spots just b4 I finished the next day. Looks GREAT. You need to do 2 or 3 coats leaving abt 10 minutes dry time after each. They warn you not to extend over an hour in total and 5 days if you let it dry longer than that. Didn't have any trouble touching up small spots the next day.
Have fun and MASK off break line and bleeder cover. Use a coat hanger or some wire to hook the caliper onto suspension so you don't stress the brake line hose. Paint the logo with a small brush like from a small can of touch up paint AFTER the red dries completely or u might have a gooey mess on ur hands.
Just did my calipers a few weeks ago. Don't bother with the Duplicolor -- go to WalMart (I know) and get Plasti-Cote red caliper paint (spray can) -- cheaper, couldn't be easier, and no brushing.
well...I have it on my car and it looks good except now that I have Torch Red on the hood you can tell its not right if you look closely....but yeah powder coating will be your best bet for a match..of course its like $200 + shipping as opposed to $10
