Default Water Wetter

Anyone use this stuff and noticed any difference that makes it worth adding? Is it compatible with DexCool?

There are several brands
Redline Water Wetter
Royal purple Purple Ice
Use it in both my Vettes.
Redline runs about 10 degrees cooler in my C4
Purlpe Ice runs about 15 degrees cooler in my C5
Both are compatible with Dexcool

It works with DexCool, but I was told the real reduction in temp is when it's used with straight water. I use it in my C-5. Not a whole lot of decrease in temp that I noticed. I may try the Purple Ice mentioned above. 15 Degrees would be great.

Works with water, not much diff with anti freeze. Two bottles in my LS1 with Dexcool did nothing. Don't waste your $$.

didn't do anything for me (Redline product), but I have 50% antifreeze in my coolant.

Very good article in the latest issue of Corvette Enthusiast on C4-C5 cooling systems. Water Wetter is also addressed in the article.

WATER WETTER is a surficant, I don't know about the other products, but probably the same idea. Go here for their website and an information video. http://www.redlineoil.com/products_c...coolantFlash=1

Just tried it a couple of weeks ago and didn't do much in keeping the temperature down.

Well, let me give you the gist of their results, but there is much more detail and test info in the article. They also talk about after market radiators, cooling fans and water pumps.

RLWW = Red Line Water Wetter
50/50 mix = 50% water 50% anitfreeze

Each test engine (350 cid, iron block, aluminum head, small block) was run 3 hours at WOT at 7,200 rpm with a 15 psi cooling system.
Test Results:

50/50 mix was at 228 degrees
50/50 with RLWW 220 degrees
straight water 220 degrees
straight water with RLWW 208 degrees.

It helped keep my temp's from fluctuating as much. I have a Vinci fan controller and after adding two bottles of Water Wetter I noticed a few degrees diffence.

One bottle most likely won't do much and adding without a fan controller or reprogramming the fans is probably not worth much.

if you guys understood what these additives actually do, you would understand that the objective is to lower cylinder wall temperatures, not lower coolant temperature.

adding these additves does not nessasarily = lower coolant temperature levels.

My understanding of this "surficant" is that the product breaks the surface tension of the water molecules to the metal...allowing the coolant to flow better and improve the coolants ability to cool.
