Well, a long story short, I went from a vortex intake to the ziptie modded stock intake. I swear the car sounds better and runs better. I also picked the perfect day to do this, as it rained for the first time in what seems like forever in Dallas. The streets were flooding a little even.
I think to make this perfect, would be something less...redneck engineered with the zipties, maybe an LS1 f-body lid instead of the factory stuff and a nice big air bridge. Oh, and a new filter
Why? I've had a Vortex for almost 3 years and over 60,000 miles w/o issue.
It started because, i had a vortex and an airbridge for the wrong year model, but i "persuaded" the filter to go on. Well i sold the airbridge and in the process of taking it off, the filter ripped. So i had to go back to the whole stock intake system, but zip tied.
I still have my zip tie mod. 8-10 rwhp is what you get for the cost of a few zip ties and a K&N Filter. I'm happy with mine. I do not drive in the rain. Make sure you get some weather stripping for your hood. I think Ecklers sells this for around $25.00

This is what I did, and I think it could benefit ALOT from an F-body lid, aftermarket airbridge and smooth bellows. (but would probably all equal an aftermarket CAI)
My dirty nasty airfilter that my friend gave me because he stole my nice clean K&N.
