Need help. I drove my 01 during a rain storm and I stopped to get gasoline. When I tried to start it back up. No start. It sounded like the starter tried to engage then like the starter locked down. It would not jump start. I trailered it home, charged the battery and still no start. I did disconnect the battery after I charged it and now it is reallt acting weird. When I tried to connect the battery back up the under hood like would flash on and off and I could here various relays clicking. When I turn the key to start the car everything goes dead still not start. The battery reads 12.5 volts.
Any help would be appreciated.

That is the exact symptom of an open circuit. There is enough of a contact in the circuit so that your lights and low power items work (althought I'll add some comments below), but when you turn the key to engage the starter, the rush of current will not be able to bridge a poor connection and the connection will open causing everything to shut off.
Now for the lights, the fact that when you reconnect the battery your underhood light is flashing, this indicates the likeliest source of your problem is the battery post. I'll bet it's snapped internally so it makes a poor connection, or the cable connector itself is corroded and unable to make good contact. Wiggle the battery cables and see what your underhood light does - actually try pulling the cable away from the battery. If you can confirm the post is bad then you need to replace it. If it's a Lead Acid battery you may even have acid leaking out which can cause major problems to the PCM below it.

Well Wicked Weasel was right. The battery charged to 12.5 volts, but only had 9 cold cranking amps. The battery was 6 yrs old. I think I got my monies worth. Boy when the battery decided to go it went bad in a hurry. I did go back with another Delco.
Thanks for everyones suggestions!

lucky guess - there has been a bunch of stories like yours where the car is working fine and then go to start it and nothing. Funny how the battery is not giving any warning.
I have a charger that shows volts and percent charged. On my last battery I saw the volts looked ok, but the percent charge would never go over 80. I knew it was going bad then...
You have a good looking ride. Your photo's posted were nice. Looks like you do your own work. I have a 01 stock c5 that I drive and a 92 ZR-1 that I show. The new Z06 sure is getting my interest though.
