If your fluid isn't very dark it is sometimes difficult to know just how much you need to bleed from a specific brake. I usually run 2 to 3 12 oz cans through the system to make sure I get all the old out. To reduce the amount of fluid required suck the old fluid out of the Master Cylinder reservoir before adding new fluid. You will still have some old mixed with the new but subsequent bleeding/additions of fluid will reduce it to the point it is negligible.

I'm switching to blue fluid this time around so I know when the new stuff gets to the calipers.

Thanks,
Chris

1 liter is close so I'd buy two then you have some left to add.

Out of curiosity...can I use the blue stuff in the clutch system as well, or do I need to stick with something else?

Aside from it supposedly being a good fluid, when you are bleeding the brake system you know all the old stuff is out when you see blue fluid coming out of the bleeders.

I bleed my brakes regularly for track days a found that a quart does fine. After sucking the fluid out of the resevoir with a turkey baster and re-filling with new, I bleed all four brakes. The first time I did this it was easy to tell by color when the new fluid began to come out of the right-rear first. This filled the small plastic catch bottle of the vacuum bleeder device. So, I just bleed the other three by removing the same amount; probably a little overkill, especially the left-front. Since I can't use any remaining fluid in the opened quart for the track, there is no reason to try and save the last few ounces in the quart.
