Power Windows
Anyone have any insight as to what might be the cause of the power windows failing to operate on my 2004. The passenger side window stopped working about a month ago and the drivers side quit yesterday. I can hear the relay click in the door when I press the open button, but no indication that the window is trying to open. Is this something I can tackle on my own or is it a shop repair job?.

Guess I should have searched the archives before posting. I tried the fix of slamming the doors while holding down the switch as recommended by several people with similar problems. Lo and behold after several SLAMS of the doors both windows are now working again. I don't know how long it will last, but they work for now.

I had to open up the mechanism and found that the cable which opens the window was jammed on the drum which moves it. After reloading it, all was well, but quite a pain in the neck to accomplish.

I have heard from a number of GM owners that have experience power window motor failures. Always starts as an intermittant problem and finally the motor goes completely. Also, happened to my mother-in-law's 01 low-milage "little old lady driven" LeSabre. Passenger side went first, then driver's side crapped out. GM appears to have a supplier quality problem. Seems like it starts with windows that may not be used much.
