I RACED MY 02 Z06 THE OTHER NITE .THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME EVER DRAG RACING. I RACED AT PITTSBURGH RACE PARK (FORMERLY CALLED KEYSTONE). I RAN 13.22 ON MY SECOND RUN AND THE TRACK WAS VERY HOT AS WAS THE TEMP. ENGINE TEMP WAS 220 DEGREES.
I RAN THE 13.2 ET IN COMPETETIVE DRIVING MODE AND STILL HAD MUCH TIRE SPIN.I PLAN ON BUYING A SET OF DRAG RADIALS BEFORE I GO AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER AND HOPEFULLY GET A COOL NITE (NOT 90 DEG. AS IT WAS THE OTHER DAY).
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHICH MODE I SHOULD USE WHEN DRAG RACING FOR BEST ET. i.e. TRACTION CONTROL -ON, TRACTION CONTROL-OFF, OR COMPETITIVE DRIVING MODE.
MY CAR IS BONE STOCK AND I REALLY DON'T WANT TO MODIFY IT UNLESS THERE IS A SIMPLE ADD ON ITEM THAT IS NON DETECTIBLE.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP. I WANT TO GET INTO THE HIGH 12'S THE NEXT TIME I GO.
May wish to study the write-up I did at the thread-link in my signature on Z06 Launch Techniques. Might also want to read the details on the 11.81 pass and the 11.55 pass.
With some practice you can easily run in the 12s without mods or drag radials.
Finally, mixed-case text is preferred; all-caps is considered shouting.
