I was wondering which one of these heads is better?
THE LS6 or the LS2 cylinder heads.
Dont the LS6 have D-shaped exhaust ports where the LS2 have round?
I have a 1998 C5 with stock heads and I am looking to upgrade to one of these heads.
If I pick the LS2 heads with the round exhaust ports, can I use my factory exhaust manifold and gasket? Don't the 1998 ls1 heads have round exhaust ports too?
If I pick the LS6 with the D-shaped exhaust ports, will I have to buy new exhauset manifold and gasket?
Both LS6 and LS2 heads have the same exhaust ports, D shaped. No LS heads have round ports. Like CT mentioned, Just the early GM exhaust manifold gaskets only had round ports and these are the gaskets that you always want to use.
P.S. The LS6 head is better.
LS2 and LS6 heads are the same except the LS6 head has lighter, sodium filled intake valves.
The lighter valves really don't matter if your doing a cam and dual valve springs. Plus I have seen some of the hollow vavles break on Z06s with big cam packages...
