Default Code P0410

Hi guys, the check engine light on my 2000 Vette 6 speed came on just after leaving the NJ inspection station yesterday. The light was on a couple months ago and was reset at the dealer. I was told there was a hose off at the time and it was fixed.

Anyway, I've only put about 200 miles on the Vette since the light was reset. I looked on the forum yesterday and learned how to check the codes myself it's showing the AIR system. What exacyly is that and is it something that is serviced or replaced? Is it part of the emissions? Vette is still under a service contract. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

It's an emissions thing - it won't affect performance. This should provide enough info to decide whether you want to tackle the job yourself or not.

The code is for a faulty air pump. If you don't mind resetting the code, there will be no affect on your drivability. My own truck, with the same code, still passed NJ emissions inspection, and our inspection plugs into the OBDII port. I just reset it when necessary, even the mpg's aren't affected.

Default P0410 Code (Air Pump Issue)

I've had this code numerous times and have gone through the following repairs at a beloved dealer. The air pump has been replaced twice and the air pump seloniod was replaced once. After all of this, I had the code reappear. Upon further examination, I disconnected the rubber tubing that is located near the drivers side fender well and as you would expect, no air was flowing through the hose. I replaced the micro-relay located in the underhood fuse panel and the air flow began. I don't know why the micro-relay keeps failing (about every 6 months or so) but once replace and the codes are cleared the problem disappears. Try buying a new micro-relay and replacing it. The cost at my local NAPA store is about $12.00. Cheap way to solve the problem is the air pump/selonoid is not really gone.

Good luck
