Oil Consumption (Update)
The dealer wanted to make sure there wasn't something else wrong with the car, so I brought it to the dealer yesterday.
The dealer pulled all the plugs to check for oil and the PCV valve. Nothing wrong was found.
The dealer put in an order for the new rings. They will wait a few days then check the status. The dealer said the rings were difficult to get.
No mention of extending the warrenty, etc., since they feel GM is fixing the problem. He said this is the first Corvette they have had problems with.
The dealership probably sells 2-3 vettes per month.
I noticed others on the Z06 forum having their rings replaced. Also talk of a class action law suit. I also read there was a bad batch of LS1's.
Just when you think the statistics won't hit you. No column lock YET!
Another Problem:
Since the door lock was working when the car was in the shop, there was nothing they could do!:cuss I would have to wait until it totally failed.
10K miles. Your dealer can order all he wants but I question if the ring
replacement will be authorized on a low milage car
I don't think they want to tell me to wait until 10K after telling me damage may occur over time from using this much oil.
By forcing me to wait would mean I would be past the lemon law period.
