Default Remote Tranny coolers??

I remember seeing a post a while ago where some forum members have gone to a remote (w/fan?) tranny cooler. Anyone remember where to find one and how(where) it was installed?

Any help would be appreciated..

Auto or manual? Makes a big difference.

Have a good one,

External tranny coolers for A4s are pretty easy. Any auto store will have supplemental coolers. The size would depend on what you're wanting to do.

I've got a friend to tracks his A4, and he keeps his temps under control (barely) with a fairly massive 45,000 btu cooler.

Mount it in front of the AC condensor (the AC will work fine), then you need to figure out how clean you want the oil line fittings to work. You can go to AN fittings, or just compression barbed fittings. Both ways will work mechanically, but the AN fittings make for a much cleaner install.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

OK guys..

The wording of my question leaves MOST of my needs unasked!!!!!!

I should have been much more specific and stated a location OTHER than in front of the AC condensor.

I have a cooler located in front of the AC condensor now but am considering going supercharged. I feel this (mounting an innercooler in front of the AC condensor) will adversly effect (raise) my tranny temps. An engine oil cooler which sat about 25% in front of my tranny cooler sent temps thru the roof..

Sorry for the poor misswording of the original question!

Well, if you've already made the major decisions about how you're going to go FI (i.e. an air-to-air intercooler), then you've got a harder nut to crack.

If you haven't pulled the trigger on the intercooler setup yet, then you could go with a liquid-based intercooler. That you could run down to the brake inlet, which would keep the air in front of the AC condensor free for your tranny cooler.

One interesting solution I saw was to open up the area where the license plate goes and put a cooler behind it. Breathless makes a nice bezell (for lack of a better description) with a screen in it that matches the ZO6 screens and it fits in the plate area. The guy who suggested it was running a SC with an intercooler mounted in the same area. He used the intercooler as an attachment point for the trans cooler.

This is a great idea and would be an easy solution but in our lovely state of New York, we are suppose to use our front plate. Some cops like bustin chops about it..(yeah, they right you a ticket!)

Mike, I have thought about installing one where the air pump was.. Would have to fabricate mounts.
