We took the car out tonight to make some soft passes since we really have not been to the track in 6 months or so. Tonight was the first night with the new motor and ended abruptly. First and only pass we did a small burnout and left very soft @ 5k. The pass was motor alone, did a 1.6 60' with big tire pressure, pulled a 4.3 330' short shifting, pulled 3rd gear and about a split second later the car was heading toward the wall. The power steering pulley broke completely off, cut the power steering hose which oil'd down the slicks making them ignite 500-600' out. Coasted to a disappointing 11.6. I think the plastic pulley doesn't like 8k pulls, we shifted 1-2 @ 6500, 2-3 @ 6800, the plan was to shift 7800 on the second run.
You may need to look into some under drive accsesory pullys with the RPM's your pulling.
Looking forward to see what your car does when you hit it with the spray.
Thanks guys, we're going to swing by a friends shop and pick up a CNC'd pulley tomorrow. We want to see 4.0-4.1 on the motor before we spray the motor. Its a handful as it sits.
You'll be back in no time. Which car was it? Are you running 26's or 28's out back?
This is the 6 speed car on 26s. We're concentrating on the short times for now and think the car has low 4.1s to mid 4.0s in the 330' should make for a decent ET.

I gottya. A 4.3 on a 1.6 is haulin". With a good 60' like a 1.40 you should be in the 4.0x range as you mentioned. That's very low 10sec territory in decent air. Now's the time to practice dialin' it in. Goodluck.

Thanks man, we can't wait until we start spraying it.
Bummer ending but huge potential. I can't wait to see what it finally runs.
You know I'm pretty good at driving cars sideways. I'll stop by and give you some lessons if you want.
If you saw the semi-finals 2 years ago @ the import vs domestic shootout, you'd think twice. My car basically was on an autocross track for the last 300' and I won by a bumper.
Thanks man, I looked back @ my old time slips and a 4.36 330' is good for 10.2-10.4 which is right where I need to be, add some better air and the 346" guys better watch out. I'd be so excited to see single digits on motor alone in good air.
