Okay-I have a diff leak but it's not coming from any of the side covers. It's coming form where the tranny meets the diff. So we pulled it apart changed the seals and it's doing it again. There almost looks like a small hole and there is a part that goes between the diff and the tranny. The rear portion of the tranny has oil dripping on the edge. And it's diff oil not tranny fluid-what could be causing this? I'll tryo to post pics tonight.
Man I have the same exact problem. I just left a post yesterday and no luck. Hopefulley some one will help. Good Luck with yours. I just pulled the tranny out last night and Im waiting on some replies so I can move on.
on a 6 speed C5 there is nothing between the two. There's a seal on the shaft where it exits the tranny, and then a gasket between the two housings.
ignore the "Seal Plate" text, that only pertains to A4 equiped C5's. The pictured carrier is as it would appear - removed from the back of the 6 speed tranny.
I think you answered my question. What kind of seal goes on there, the part that is between the diff and the tranny. Im going to replace the diff seal and the side the tranny is on is where it is leaking. Is this seal or both seals hard to replace? Is that a seal from GM or what kind. Please help I posted this yesterday and I havent had any help. If you know please let me know. Thank YOU!
I can't give anymore info as I'm not versed with the 6 speed version (just the A4 - which is slightly different). I'm certain someone will chime in here.
I looked at the pics on cajunedude's website. There looks like an o-ring on the output of the tranny and it goes inside the diff. It has to be that o-ring that is damged that is causing it to leak
