ARE 422/TNT DIRECT PORT NO2, 751.6 RWHP / 837.4 RWTRQ
First off I want to thank James at TNT for giving us the chance to help develop the direct port kit for the Ls1. There were some tunning issues to overcome with the new system and are on top of things now. Earlier on I posted that our(Wade Stevens) 99 A4 C-5 ran 10.50's @ over 130mph with a 100hp shot on the dirct portand made 550rwhp at that time. We were playing with a 300 hp shot on the dyno today and got the results in the heading.
We have a special fuel system and program that we used to get these results.
Some car specs:
99 c-5
ARE re-sleeved 422 aluminum block with hyd.roller cam
long tube headers, stock cats punched, and complete stock exhaust from the cats back
Custom ARE A4 trans with 3500 converter
These numbers were attained with an A/R of 10:1, very safe and can make 800rwhp through an A4. I am sure there will be other issues at this power level with the car and will find out this weekend as we will track test it.
We will be selling this as a package to assure the least amount of issues that may arise.
The 751.6 hp was with the converter locked and at 6100rpm, there was still 737 hp @ 6700rpm.
Before we punched the cats this car did pass our local emissions testing.

Very wicked numbers. Congrats!! Have most of the concerns about running that much NOS on a alum. resleeve been put to rest?
Does ARE or TNT sell the direct port LS1 kit?
Is it fairly easy to drill the holes in the manifold for the direct port?
thanks

Nick,
I dont want to beat a dead horse, but are you still developing a Twin Turbo Solution for our LS1/LS6's?
Also, what did the 422 put to the rears N/A?

We are learning every day with reguards to how the re-sleeved engines are holding to power adders, but I am happy so far with the progress we have made with these engines. This is the most power we have made with a re-sleeved engine and will be pushing the enveope even more to see where we will have problems, this is our in house shop car and use it for testing things such as this and the turbo kit; this does allow us to learn early enough to pass on information and give the customer our best at that perticular time.
You have to remember that this kind of hp in any street car is unusable unless on some type of race tire so reliability on these engines will almost never be tested in a street application. Less power, less chance of issues with things such as head gaskets or pistons being damaged.
Since we have been working close with TNT on this project, we will be distributing all the direct port kits through ARE. There is a little more to this kit and keeping it reliable than just drilling the manifold and running the lines, this is what we will be giving with the sale of the kit; support for the product .
TNT is very capable of doing it on there own but we have reached an agreement that will let them keep manufacturing thier products while we give the customer support on this perticular one.
The car had 452rwhp before the No2 and ran 11.51@123 on runflats with no lockup in the converter.
We have some video of the car on the dyno and will try to get it converted this week.

I saw the TNT direct port setup on the BPP cart at BG and it looked impressive. I think they had problems running their car though.
Can you tell us what is all involved in the direct port kit and approx cost? What kind of inline fuel pump should be added for a C5? Bigger injector sizes??
thanks

If I recall correctly, ARE is still working on the TT for LS1/LS6's. I think they ran into a couple difficulties that they are working out. Hopefully it will be done for next season.
Buckmaster: Thanks :D

Yes we are still working on the TT package. We are very busy right now and it is just a bit tough to get the time needed to finish the project and still do bus. We are working on a 2000 with H&C to do all the prelim. dynoing on. The info we gathered from the low comp. 385 engine is great info for that set up but we want to sell the base kit first, we should be ready to go in early fall.
I will keep everyone posted when there is info worth posting, soon I hope. :D

Thanks for the update Nick. I'm a patient man now, when it comes to making power. I'll wait for the TT, and if it doesnt work
out then maybe a 422/427. Or 432.....?

nick,
is this on your yellow coupe with the 5 spoke wheels? was it in a recent article (last few months) in one of the Chevy High perf magazines that ran an 11.0 @ 130 or something like that (without nitrous)?? excellent work. what will the complete package cost? that is, the 422 motor + direct port laugh gas. i need to know how much stock to sell.
