It has been mentioned a few times about the U shaped rubber section in the fuel line (in front of block/ RHS) drying out, leaking and causing a fire . I went and checked this out on mine, appears ok, but how the heck would you change this part. Its one complete piece from under the footwell right up to the top of the block behind the AC compressor and there are actually two of them, supply and return. The rumor is that these are not even available anymore. Has anyone come up with a fix that is better than just cutting out the rubber section and gear clamping in a new piece of hose in place.
PLEASE IGNORE THIS POST, it should have been in C4 section :bb :bb :bb
I dont know how this may directly apply to your cars needs but... I just broke my fuel line recently while wrestling with the Fuel Filter/regulator on my car. GM Engineers told my dealership that a complete replacement had to take place on the fuel line due to the intense amount of pressure the line had in it.
I could have rigged a rubber hose with hose clamps in line...Then I decided to have the complete replacement. The dealership did not want to take on the job with all the aftemarket Mods in the way so I dont feel as though they were lying to me regarding the complete replacement. I would rather not take the chance of burning my car to the ground just because I did not make the right decision. ;) The entire fuel line brand new was $112. It takes an act of God to install it though. :( So what I am saying here is... replace the entire line in one piece when the time comes... dont take chances with patching your existing line. It is just not worth the risk! :yesnod:
The one broken line was replaced and I kept the other new line for a spare. Although I dont have any intention of breaking that one!! :smash: :smash:
