my left headlight started to not pop up recently. i had the system set to automatically turn-on (twilight) and when it wouldn't work, i would turn the twilight off, manually turn-on the headlights, and it would immediately work. it was happening about 10-15% of the time. now it seems to be stuck permanently. any ideas of a quick and simple fix? i have a 2000.
I had the same problem on my left headlight and ultimately performed a quick fix - let me know if this works for you.
My fix was based on my conclusion that when the headlight closed the motor would clamp the manual **** tightly against the motor housing, so when you go to raise the headlight the headlight control module would detect the tightness as a stop and not try to raise the headlight.
I sprayed the gap between the manual **** and the motor housing with white lithium grease and the problem had not occured once since then.
However since doing that to both motors, the right headlight now experienced the stripped plastic gear, so I've ordered the brass gear replacement and will be performing that shortly.
