I can hear a click when I press the button (as if the switch is trying to work...) but the windows won't budge...I noticed this a while back as it would be intermittent...some times it would work- sometimes not???

Where do I start to look? Regulator?
Search this forum. There are numerous posts on the subject. Once in awhile, holding the button in the down position and simultaneously slamming the door will free the relay in the actuator motor. This is probably only a temporary fix.
Eventually you will have to address the motor issue. GM does not sell service parts for the regulator and even at discount it is going to run about $200.00, even on "that" auction site. That said, remanufactured motors are available for the regulator for about $65.00 and the time required to swap it out is maybe 30 minutes longer than replacing the regulator. If you have the dealer do the work, plan on $450.00 to $500.00 to repair. Might be a little more or less depenging on local dealer shop rate which can vary from maybe $80 to over $100 an hour.
