We have 125,000 miles on the car. Currently the front rad pack is out along with the ABS mounting. Replacing out the steering rack now as opposed to 2 years from now sounds like a good idea.
My problem is I also own a ’69 where every 30,000 miles you rip something out and replace it. Now I know that times have changed, but if I were this far under our C3 I would just be trashing the power cylinder and starting over. On the other hand, the steering gear box runs a 100,000 easily. Therefore, I lack a point of reference here.
Ours started leaking badly out the passenger side tie rod seal.Picked up a used rack off the Bay and just installed it last weekend. All the work is from the bottom of the car and the drivers side wheel well. Did not remove any part of the cooling system.
I would suggest you just leave it and deal with it, if ever in the future.
