I am debating whether or build an LS2 based 402 stroker or an LS1 based 383 stroker.
It is going in a 1998 M6 coupe vette.
I want to know which one is easier to install, less expensive and why,
also besides the obvious inch differences, what type of power will each produce?
My motor is getting pulled tomorrow and I need input.
I live in california and need to pass the smog. Will one pass easier than the other?
I want more power!!!!!!!!!!!! My car is all stock and one of these engines should do the trick. Thanks to all with input.

Reason: Wrong title
The 402 will cost a little more. Spend the extra $$$ and go 402 with a good set of heads and is from a good engine builder with proven motors. Most of the 402s around here are really fast. Low 11s and high 10 sec cars...
If your old motor is still good I would sugest that you sell it to recoupe some of your money then go out and get a 402 and do the heads and cam. you will still be able to pass cal smog if the cam is not to big. And the cost of the ls2 should only be about 3-400 more then the ls1 but you will get about 460-490 rwhp depending on cam and heads. If you ever want to go for a ride send me a pm. I have a 402 in mine
