I put Blackwing CAI and Corsa Indy exhausts on my wife's '04 vert. I got it dyno tuned and gained 34 rwhp and 30lb torque. Now, when she punches it at low speeds the rear end fishtails a lot, when going straight ahead. Any suggestions as to the cause or to correct the fishtailing? The max power on the dyno sheet was 314hp. That doesn't seem like that much HP to cause the car to that.
this may sound simple but don't hit the gas so hard when pulling out, like you would have to do with a mini van etc. That much HP should not be hard to handle

Did similar changes like your and have same problem, Is the car automatic (A4). If so, if found if it downshifts two (2) gears to first , all hell breaks loose. If I know I might have to punch it, like when entering fast moving traffic, I try to shift manually so the engine doesn't kick down as hard. this is with TC on.
So the dyno was 280 rwhp before the mods. Sounds a little low. The traction control has brain farts and will often not kick in until the car is sideways. This has been my experience
Fishtailing when you punch it is not really a "problem". It usually means that the tires are spinning. This is a good thing! If you perceive it as a problem, then you have to learn how to drive it differently after the mods...i.e., don't punch it so hard so it doesn't fishtail!

Yes...Active Handling is ON and yes it's an A-4 automatic. Deb...I agree and I told her that she just needs to get use to the added power. She use to drag race 40 years ago and even today she drives it like she stole it.

Gotta Love it! Oh....put that thing into "comp" mode and see what happens!

How much extra power do you really have at low speeds? At 10 or 20 mph in low gear what RPMs are you running? If you floor it at those speeds and the car drops to low that is all the RPM you are going to see until the engine accelerates. Your dyno tune and mods added 34 HP at the peak. You can look at your dyno graph to see the delta power for the RPM at lower engine speeds. At lower RPMs like 2000 the difference is probably less than 10 HP. Not a reason to suddenly see some fishtailing. Sounds like different driving.

Hey Bill......I'm not going to be the one to tell her that she doesn't know how to drive.....Common sense is the better part of valor....LOL
