Default tire pressure sensor batteries

Hi, Can some one give me the GM part no. for the batteries that go in the tire pressure sensors.
I can't find that any where. Been trying to find it on the "Fred Beans " site with no luck.
I have an 02 and putting a set of Pilot sport PS2s on next week and need to change the batteries while I have the tires down.

Thanks,
Jw

Sorry man, but I'm pretty sure the batteries can't be replaced. You'll have to buy new sensors.

There was a post on here a while back by a guy that figured out how to replace the batteries......it involved cutting the sensor body open and resealing afterwards. Do a search on tire pressure monitor batteries, etc.

Other than that, all you can do is replace and re-program replacement sensors. Check the classifieds.....there may be some used ones out there.

I broke one of my sensors when I swapped tires...since it was damaged, I cut it apart (got curious as to where the battery was). It was pretty darn far into that thick plastic...looks like it would take a skillful hand to replace it. I think I'd just be looking on eBay for a new one.

trying to replace the batteries is very iffy... several companies ( a guy out of his garage ) have tried to make a go of this replacement battery enterprise.
The problem is you can not test the function until the sensors are back in the tires and are moving. You can check communications, but not function out of the tire.
The batteries are cheap, but the work to replace them without damage to the delicate circuit, which includes, careful dissection of the pot expoxy, desoldering the two connectors , then re soldering the new batteries in, and using the right pot material to handle expansion and contraction, heat and cold and vibration. Again after you do all this you can not check to see if you didn't destroy the circuit with the solder, until after the sensors are in the tire and rolling.

The best place to get new sensors is from Gene Culley at Fred beans, he is a forum vendor, and the financial sponsor of the C5 Gen forum, so we dont have to pay to be here.

i just replaced one of my sensors last weeks, so i too was curious about the battery...it took about 15 minutes to remove all the potting and disconnect the battery...did this without even exposing the circuit board.. as soon as i buy some batteries & epoxy, i'll try putting it back together...

Noticed that, in your profile, your Vette is an 02. I don't know of anyone who has been able to replace these batteries. Battery replacement with the 97-00 sensors is possible and really not that difficult. Foutunately, the 01-04 sensors are a lot cheaper than the earlier ones. Just buy new sensors.

Yup I had a 75,000 /6 warranty and had 2 replaced at 67000. They sent the tire to the tire dealer to have it installed but still warranty. vettdvr
