So I finally got to experience the differential leak I've read so much about on here. I took the car to Eagle Transmissions (reputable local shop) and they called back and said there was a bad seal right where the tranny and the differential meet. They had to pull everything out to fix it. The labor/parts/fluids/tax ran me 513.00. I just want to make sure that this sounds about right before I ever go back to them. I'm very cautious where I take my car for service.

Thanks guys,
I would of never paid 513 bucks for labor just to change the rubber O-ring.. You could of did it your self in a day and the O-ring is cheap like 80 cents.. I replaced a diff for a freind and only charged 150.00 since it only takes a few hrs to do if you got some air tools... Shop rate there must be 100 a hr. ouch
If you are talking about the seal between the transmission case and the differential case leaking and it's a manual, there's a post on the forum where someone figured a way to fix that for a few dollars. He said the seal is a sealant, not a gasket or 'O' ring. Evidently the sealant fails some times. He drained the transmission. Made a fitting such that he could hook up his shop vac to the manual transmisson and pull a vacum through the fill hole. He then loosened the bolts holding the manual transmission case to the differential case, pried the joint open a bit, turned on the shop vac and drew RTV into the failed area of the joint. When he felt it was good, tightened her up, filled the transmission and it worked. I'll search the Forum for the post. Hope I can find it.
A thread was started by member 'bradskool' on 19 April 2006, subject was '1999 manual transmission leak'. Member 'Mr. Jones' used the shop vac method in this thread and resealed it succesfully. You may want to contact him about your issue if it's the seal between the transmission (manual) case and differential case. Hope this isn't too painful. I found another sealant cheap fix under Search>C5 Tech> Advanced Search> 'Transmission Sealant' where another member just split the seal and resealed it for a few bucks. Sorry, looks like there's a cheap fix out there.
