Default Harmonic balancer removal tool

I removed an LSx harmonic balancer before using one of those gear pullers from Advance Auto Parts. It worked, but was a bit of a pain in the butt. For those of you who have pulled balancers a lot, what tool do you use, and where can I get one? I really don't want to have to go back to a puller that won't pull the balancer straight off, requires constant realignment, doesn't fit quite right, etc.

Thanks

From what I've heard a standard 3 arm puller with the arms on the short setting works fine. Will be doing this myself in a couple of days so too.

I use the adjustable three claw type where you can tighten the claws so they do not move. You can turn the claw arms around for a longer or shorter reach. Mine worked great.

i used the 3 claw... but when i last replaced it with an aftermarket UD it had a 3 bolt system for removal... which is a much better design IMHO.

Yeah, we have the worst of both worlds on the factory pulleys. No keyway so it has to be press fit, no bolt holes so you can't use standard pullers and installers, and the bolt is torque to yield so you either buy a new one or use an ARP bolt. No biggie.

I just ordered a balancer installer from a guy on LS1Tech that makes a custom piece that a lot of people have had good luck with. I also saw over there, they recommend the Craftsman 3 arm puller. Seems a lot of people had good luck with that too.

I think I'm set now
