ANY battery will loose power over time. There's just to much electronics on board which cause parasitic draw. Starting the car every other week and driving the car a couple of times a year will not maintain a full charge.
You should look at a float maintenance type charger...I use the (DELTRAN CORPORATION) "BATTERY TENDER PLUS" because two of my cars also sit for prolonged periods w/o driving them. I also only use OPTIMA red top batteries in all of my cars.

Same for me!! Except I have a four-bank on each side of the garage.

With a red top OPTIMA, you'd be wise to select the BATTERY TENDER PLUS rated @ 1.25 amp. There is also the BATTERY TENDER JR. rated at .75 amp, which will do fine as well. If you have multiple vehicles which require a maintenance float type charger, then DELTRAN sells the multiple bank chargers...which I should have considered since I now own two BATTERY TENDER PLUS chargers anyway.
You can find the BATTERY TENDER PLUS/JR. chargers in most motorcycle shops...they actually manufacture the chargers for HARLEY DAVIDSON and BMW motorcycles and use the motorcycle manufacturer logo. Another source is INTERSTATE BATTERY. Warranty will vary from five to ten years. Cost will be $39.95-$59.95.
The other float maintenance type charger you might look into is called the CTEK MULTI US 3300. It does the same thing as BATTERY TENDER PLUS, but has some additional features. It is European made, introduced into the USA not long ago. It is also available at a local INTERSTATE BATTERY, but costs slightly more. I'm not sure of the warranty. It has the ability to desulfate the battery.
