I know it doesn't amount to much and they're mostly see it/hear mods, but does anybody have any comparison hp numbers on most of the major catback systems.(corsa, borla, magnaflow, bassani, B&B, etc.)
I've never really seen any numbers and I was just kind of curious.
Horsepower improvements from mufflers is next to 0 for all of them. I don't think I have ever seen a dyno comparison on a muffler either.
A couple of years ago Corvette Fever announced a series of articles that would test various cat backs, air intake mods, and other similar bolt on things might be offered, each of which claimed anywhere from 3 to who knows how many horsepower. The first article compared a number of cold air intakes to show how truly beneficial they were. Most had horsepower readings on they dyno that were not statistically different from the stock unit. The rest of the comparison articles were never run. Can you imagine the impact on ad revenue for a magazine to run a story that documented that the piece a company was selling improved performance only because it lightened the owner's wallet, making the acceleratioin mass lower.
I personally bought my Corsa Indy's because I loved the way the sounded. I pretty well understood there was little or no hp advantage. The manufacturers claim each exhaust increases flow, some better than others. I was just wondering how much better and if it made a difference. Either way I'm happy with my choice!
