LS6 or FAST intake and ported throttle body are some other popular air intake mods.

I wouldn't screw with the MAF. Waste of time, money, and can complicate tuning. If the car is bone stock you can gain 10-15 hp with an air intake. The benefits of upgrading to an LS6 intake will be marginal until you add long tube headers or a cam.

04 MN6-

Callaway Honker and long tube headers with X pipe, TI cat backs:

After tune= 346 HP @ rear wheels!

Don't mess with the MAF. More trouble than it's worth and could give you problems later.

My opinion, the above was the best bang for the buck with the least drawbacks.

Sorry, I can't give you before and after results. The LS1 responds well to better breathing/exhaust. If I could only do one performance mod, it would probably be the Honker. Well made, well engineered by some good people.

Callaway engineers recorded 18 hp on the engine dyno with a fresh 2001 LS1 engine, otherwise completely stock. Any additional mods, throttle body, headers, LS6 intake, cam, heads, etc, result in more of a power increase from the Honker. It made more power than any of the other systems we tested. If another system had made more power, that would have indicated that there was more potential and we would have modified our design.

Here's an article from Vette Magazine - Aug '05 - that reports on a test perfromed by MTI in Georgia. It was completely independent; Callaway had nothing to do with it. They recorded 19.5 hp (at the wheels) without tuning and 32.3 hp after tuning.

I can't give the actual numbers, as mcv can, but I can give you my seat of the pants reaction. Putting the Honker on my car gave a very definite and snappier midrange feel and response. Well worth it in my mind to have a car that can pull in the middle gears better than it had been.

Again, I can't measure it, my Levis aren't calibrated :p but I can sure feel it.
