I installed a CAGS Eliminator about a month ago. Friday threw code- P0803 1-4 Upshift Solenoid Control Circuit (M/T)- Is this related or another issue? Is it possibly a bad or loose eliminator?? (Also posted in C5 General)
Thx in advance.
Sounds like your CAGS Eliminator has a problem. The PCM looks for voltage on the CAGS control line when the solenoid is not powered. This way the PCM can tell if the solenoid is hooked up or not. Your CAGS Eliminator will have a small resistor in there to fake the PCM into thinking it is hooked up and working. So it sounds like it has came unhooked or the resistor inside the CAGS Eliminator is bad. Check to be sure it didn't come loose or fall down on the exhaust or something. You can also check your CAGS Eliminator with an ohm meter, it should show some resistance, probably somewhere between 1K-47K ohms.
When I was at Mid-America, they replaced my existing CAGS as a courtesy since I made some major purchases. They said it looked burned. About a month later the new CAGS unit failed and threw the appropriate code.
Since I have a smog test due, I put back in the old one reset the code and passed the test.
Disable CAGS via the tune. Any local tuner with LS1-Edit, HPTuners, or EFI Live should be able to do that and adjust the fan temps for you for a Jackson or two.
