Default Automatic's and 2.73 gears! Need advice

My 98 with auto and 2.73 needs alittle help.
The car seems to run well. No missing only 19,000 miles.
But the laziness or hesitation needs to be addressed. The car will bust the tires loose and turn on the a/h when it downshifts and gets past the hesitation. Is this inherint with the automatics?
I would like to make some changes without major mods or changing the gear.
Thank you for your help.

I feel your pain.......

I'm changing over the 2.73's to 3.42's next week and we are installing a Pro torque 2400 as well.
This WILLwake up the beast within.

It's true the A4/2.73 are somewhat sluggish. A PCM program and a change of gear/TC will solve th problem. :yesnod:

Ditch the 2.73s, I went to 3.42s, makes a huge difference. :smash:

I've been contemplating the PowerLoader for some time now. Only questions now are...

What does it do to the warranty?
Does the dealer know?

Keith, it doesn't do anything to the waranty because the dealer will never know.

It is possible for them to find out about it but they would have to send the pcm away to be read by a GM engineer who could read and analyze the data and compare to stock. Who the hell is going to do that??? Don't even worry about it. Go for it it makes a huge difference.

PS Did you recover from the last crazy weekend we had? :D

Joe, what are your 1/4 et' and trap speed for your modded vette? With my mods, I turned a 13.33@109mph with a 2.06 60' time. I want to go the 3.42 and Yank t/c route also when I get the bucks. Hope to get into the 12's. The only bad part of the Powerloader2 is waiting for it

 :cry Forgot, I have 2.73's also.

I agree with the Powerloader, based on what I've read from owners. Shift firmness, shift time, partial throttle kickdown, and torue management are all improved - even with the 2.73's.

I have 2.73's too, and there are times I wish I had more. But I also have traction problems now, and don't want more by going to lower gearing - not to mention the costs involved.

Good luck, and please report back if you go with the PL

I have the 2.73's and the Powerloader was the ticket ....perfect shifts and no more mushy gas pedal ...a little tired of it dropping into OD at 25 MPH ?? The Powerloader keeps the gears where YOU want them to be .... an excellent investment

sandbagger- If you are going to do it, wait until you can afford to do it right. Do the gears (3.42's) and get someone to re-program your PCM at the same time. Start doing exercises on your smile muscles now, they will get a real workout when you do the mods :D :yesnod:

FineC5 said it the best. I have the 2.73s and light mods and the Powerloader makes the car ALOT faster and much more responsive. You'll see once you do it what I am talking about. Nice SOTP that oyu cannot get with the stock C5 and 2.73s.
