Default Q about Yank GP & Install

The 3k Yank in the GP shows a str of 2.0. I thought the recommended converter for 3:15s was the 3k 1.86? If so, how much difference is there? Also, can this install be done yourself? I know the trans. is in the rear, but just how much has to come out to put a converter in (leaving stock gears)? Is reprogramming needed for a 3k stall & stock gears?

TIA

The difference in str will be noticeable. The 2.0 str will be more difficult to hook up off the line. No right or wrong answer it just depends what you want to do. If it is for a street car then I'd do the 1.86 as it will be easier to launch and the roll ons will be better too. As far as the install, unless you are a pro, pay someone to do it. You can really screw things up if done improperly. The stock pcm should be fine but ideally you should have it redone to optimize the results.

Good luck,
Joe
