Wierd bog down when accelerating around tight turn - Traction Control????????
Well, On lunch today I decided to go for a little spin. I entered a tight uphill turn and mashed it in 2nd gear with the traction control on. It setup and drifted nicely in the turn exept it bogged down half way through the turn. It never did that before. It almost felt like some sort of fuel pickup problem. After that it ran fine.... Is that what the traction control is supposed to do? Thanks for all the advise...........

Sounds like the engine retard feature of the traction control. The way I understand the TC system, it will try to tame wheel speed with application of brake and then the engine management system will cut power to avoid further application of power. Not necessarily the most predictible of circumstances and could leave you hanging if you need to get away quick. My advice...Do not turn in front of any semi trailers with TC engaged. You could be wearing a new door badge! If you find yourself in this situation, try to have the presence of mind to back off the accellerator a bit and then apply gas as traction becomes available. This system is not necessarily designed to be a performance feature, ala F1 traction control which is creating some of those flawless smokeless standing starts. It is my opinion that TC is more of a "safety" feature to keep the over exuberant and untrained from getting into go pedal trouble in slippery conditions. You can try experimenting with the TC and it's response by U-turning on a slippery surface at a safe low speed. Of course, use sense where you experiment. Good luck!

I would think it is the T/C engaging. The first time I took the Vette to the track I left the T/C-A/H on until I learned what I could and could not do. I'm glad I did. It is a nice learning tool. One corner, up hill & low speed, approx. 35-40mph, the T/C would engage. I was stomping on the gas too hard coming out of it. Left T/C on until I figured out how to apply the throttle for best results. Then turned T/C off, now that I had a base, and worked up a little from there. Two other high-speed corners, approx. 90-95mph, the A/H would engage. So far, I haven't had the nerve to dis-engage A/H. It's a Vette saver. I'm still, with A/H on, and stock EMT's, in the top two in my class. A VIPER beat me :mad

Same track experience when I forgot to turn it off. Hairpin, hanging out a little, and big bog. The bog is very noticeable and slows the car a lot. AH on, but TC off. I'd rather a bit of wheelspin than have the car almost stop. :D

I just want to chime in an mention that you can now purchase the TracActive Controller for the C5 which automatically sets Competition Mode when you start the car.
