I have a LS1 short block no other info. all I know is there arent alot of parts for this motor. helping someone build this motor and we need some help on part#'s or wat part this is. Hoping someone in here can push us in the right direction. Any help would be appreicated.
What goes here? cause theres a plate that goes over this.
There is a C5 parts Catalog available for download on-line but I can'f find the URL. On my copy the part appears to be a cam shaft retainer, part number 12556437 Bolts are 11515756. Verify with dealer or other forum members before putting down your $$$. The other area appears to be secured and covered by the front engine cover and it apopears there might be different part numbers for some different years. For most of LS-1 it appears to be #12561243.
Hang in there, I am sure somebody will chime in with the URL for the catalog or verify part number.
Thanks bob for the quick response and part#'s. Im going to verify #'s with my local dealer tomorow. Its a slow process but getting some help from peeps like u is making it alittle easier.
You'll find it a lot easier if you get the Service Manual that includes all the information on the engine. You need to know torque specifications for things like the bolts for the cylinder heads, and the order in which to torque them.
