Default Fuel pump on 04

My wife and i went to our annual show today. on the way to hooters afterwards. stopped at a red light, car went dead. after looking around finally found a blown fuse for the fuel pump. had to have it towed to local dealership. car only has 15,000 on it, just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem. pretty early for the fuel pump to go out . Also just wandering what is envolved in changing it, and where is it located probably in the tank. Thanks Frank

Unfortunately, our 2004 models have the new C6 fuel pump design, which is located inside the tank and according to my tech a little more complicated to work on than previous models. Fortunately, we're still under warranty should you need to get it services/replaced. I've seen new C6's at the dealership getting new fuel pumps, so its not impossible for one to go out within 15K miles. Hopefully, its something else. Good luck.

Partway through model year 2003 (starting with 2003 VIN 35114929 produced on 11/25/02, so I've read), GM totally redesigned the C5 fuel system to accommodate future LEV 2 emission requirements. For 2003 Corvettes only, this system was designated by RPO code FFS, which can be found on the car's Service Parts Identification (RPO) Label. However, the name "FFS" has been unofficially applied to all vehicles with the new system. All 2004s have the redesigned FFS fuel system.

You can read more about the redesigned FFS fuel system at the following link:

Redesigned FFS Fuel System.
