Default Engine Replacement for a C5 - Need some advice please!

How are ya'll?

Anyways, I've got a Nassau '99 FRC currently running 94K miles with quite a bit of custom mods...The car runs great now and is in great shape but I put about 23K miles on it a year and know in the future it'll need some work...the point is I really would like to keep the car going if that's a realistic idea (let me know if my thoughts are right) after the engine goes...

I've replaced a few parts here and there but my thoughts are to run the car until it gives and then swap for a new engine (likely a 383), get that tuned with a nice heads/cam package, and keep going. Any idea an estimated cost for a swap like his and what other parts to the car should I worry about redoing if I want to keep the car? Is swapping the engine when the stock engine dies a proper way to rebirth the car? I understand life wear of other parts, but other than cosmetics, what other parts would I need to attend to to make the mechanicability of the car "~like new"?

I'm a little lost on this issue but thanks a ton for any advice!

Matthew

If the car has otherwise been reliable, I see no problem with your plan. When the time comes, it would probably also be a good idea to replace the suspension bushings and get the transmission serviced.
