My rear glass in the soft top has came undone at the top and drivers side edge and I was wondering what kinda price im looking at?
I called autoglass places who wont do it unless I buy new glass, auto upholstery places who dont do it, and the dealer says they have no idea, but it depends on hours and cant get to it for atleast a week.
I dont want rain pouring in so I might go buy a cover, but does anyone have ideas on the amount of time Im looking at(2 hours, 10hours, ect), or would it be better to go a different route such as a body shop or even a new top on ebay for $400ish if they are even worth it?
Not an uncommon problem from what I hear. I'd maybe talk to some body shop people in addition to glass shops. Last one of these I heard of, the owner wound up spending $1800 on an aftermarket top that is supposed to be much better than the original..........
Awesome thanks for the tip, Im a poor college student/solider who doesnt have a ton of time to be without a car or pay big money for fixing it up at the moment. Waiting on some more money to come in from the gov't and stock market
used super glue, infact after i glued the seperating part, i forced the rest apart and super glued it also so i wouldnt have to repair it later. then i used a sharpie to color black the parts of the glue that bleed thru and left a slightly white mark.
I used JB weld, it's been holding for a few years now.
It happen to me, I was lucky found a local glass repair shop in NY. I left him the car I think he used JB weld. after glueing he placed a blanlket inside the rear deck to take off the pressure from the inside and left it indoors for 48 hrs it only cost me $80.00
as apose to $1800 for an after market top, the insurance would not cover it because the glass was not broken, Good Luck
Awesome tips and links everyone, Ill def see what I can figure out. The only problem is I dont have a garage (live in an apartment at college) so I might just have to try it and get a car cover to keep the inside dry for a few day or two :-\
