partial air blockoff possible?

partial air blockoff possible?
Just curious instead of replacing the air pipe with the initial header install.... can youdo the following
On the passerger side will it hurt anything to simply cut the pipe about 3 inchs away from the exhaust manifold and seal where you cut.
Use the old one to block of the port on the header.
(drivers side will still be connected.)
Im hoping to have a diffrent intake here shortly and figured id replace it at the same time.

well so far so good ... doesnt seem to be causing any issues with it off.
Ill take it to work monday and see on long drives
