'98 A4 is throwing Code P1518
I already know that it's my TAC Module Serial Data Circuit; but the question is what needs to be done to correct it or what needs to be replaced? The problem will happen intermittently and says "service traction control sys..reduced engine perf" then the check engine light comes on. The car will not rev above idle speed. If the engine is restarted it runs fine for awhile then the problem repeats.

Thanks in advance for all the great advice!
In 4/04 I had my used '98 coupe about 2 months w/ only 20k miles on it when this happened to me sitting in a left turn lane. Needless to say, that was the longest turn of my life...at a virtual crawl. I finally got off the street and turned off the engine and waited about 3 min., then restarted....... with no bells or whistles flashing....and drove home and started researching here on the forum. I could never pin point just what caused this, but spent $200 on a new TAC module from Ken Fichtner Chevy. I waited to see if this event would happen again but it never has after 2 years and another 20k miles of all types of driving. I never did install the new module, but keep in the rear compartment of my coupe with some tools just in case. I've read about all types of probable causes, i.e. loose connections on the TB to loose connections on a ABS sensor on a wheel. I just live with it now, and try not to worry about. If it happens, it happens I guess. Weird? Yeah, I know.
