Don't take this the wrong way but those wheels are the worst wheels I've ever seen. They are stock car/dirt track wheels which you can get in many offsets and sizes. Good Luck on your venture, I for one would never use those things.
I am of the same opinion. Love my CCW's. John's product performs great, looks great, and his customer service is as impressive as his product. For those that don't like the available 16" tire availability, John is now making the drag package in bigger sizes. IMHO the CCW's are well worth the price tag.

The CCW is a great product, but is it worth $1200 more when there is a MUCH cheaper alternative out there? (Only $470 total!)
Diamond Racing Wheels (Bill-owner) is the one producing these wheels (Called the Avenger Series) shown above. They are well known and well respected in the SVT Cobra Community, and I look forward to seeing that same level of customer service/quality product provided to the Vette Community.
Bill has several wheel designs available, but in the 16" setup, the Avenger style is the only option for the Vette....
When I get home this evening, I will post up some great pics of these wheels on various 03-04 Cobra's I have photos of...for those that are concerned about the "look."
Chris, for those that are racing and need to watch how they spend their mod money I thinks it's great to have a very affordable combo out there. For those that can afford the best, you just simply cannot beat the CCW product.

I semi-agree....lol...
It is a great budget system, but there are many, like myself, who can afford to spend the extra cash on more expensive setups, but chose not too as we would rather spend the mod money on more go fast parts.....

I'll semi agree as well Good Luck with the venture Bob

I'm not making a penny out of this deal, and I can assure you at that price structure, Diamond Racing Wheels isn't making much either...
Just trying to pass along a good deal, IMO, and have been working with the owner of DRW to come up with a inexpensive drag wheel setup designed to fit the Vette...
Get all the details together and pm them to me. Style, material, weight, etc and i'll pass it on to my racers at Moroso. I know a few are looking for an affordable wheel. Our next outing is Friday the 13th for a track rental and then Sunday the 15th for a STOMP ON THE MUSTANGS during the FORD POWER FEST.

Riggs, are those wheels track use only? Many guys will drive on their drag radials and I am getting the impression from the website these wheels are track use only.
I see what you are saying about the money but are we comparing apples to apples? $470 for four wheels plus about $400 for rear tires shipped mounted balanced plus another $250 for the fronts has you at about $1100 and a used CCW set is ~ $1600 so we are talking $500 difference rather than $1200 you stated. Still a sizable chunk of cash.
I certainly can appreciate your doing the leg work to find another alternative so next time you talk to him, can you ask about street use recommendations?

$470 for (4) BRAND NEW, IN BOX WHEELS...."$650" FOR BRAND NEW TIRES...(I think your pricing is high, but I'll go with it. I can get the rears for $174.50/each with free shipping, need to go price the fronts)
VS $1600 for USED Wheels and USED tires (I'd never buy used slicks, but that's just me.).....Let's just assume you are paying $1600 for the used wheels, as the used tires will probably need to be replaced when you buy them.
Many Cobra guys use these whees for Auto-X and Drag Racing...But I wouldn't replace them as my daily wheels/tires...of course I wouldn't use the CCW Drag Wheels as a daily driver wheel/tire combo either..
If you are going to do strictly drag radials, just buy a set of Used C5Vette 17" wheels and throw some Drag Radials on them...
That way you can use your stock front wheels/tires...
I'd only buy this combo (or CCW combo) if I was looking to do a set of slicks and skinnies, such as the Mickey Thompson 26X11.5X16 ET Street or Hoosier 28X10X16 Quicktime Pro....
Just waiting on some measurements to figure out whether we can fit a 15x4...(Dont kill me, I'm still new to these cars.)
If not, we will be using the 16x6 (Compared to CCW's 16x5.5)...
You can't use the 15" because of the brake set-up on the C5. They do make a RACE KIT for the brakes, however you don't want to use those tiny things on a street car.
i believe you will find that the cross section of a rolled steel rim will not work as the inside contour will not give you the clearence needed to clear the a-arms/knuckles, unlike the mustang, the vettes clearence issues are more to do with suspension than brakes. if you are truly looking for a lower cost alternative, use a set of 84-87 c4 wheels (16x8.5's fr/ use the 16x9.5's in the rear) and section the 8.5's down to 5", wheels are plentifull and cheap, typically 200 a set or less, and it will work, i am well aware that an 1850 set of drag wheels is pricey, but modular wheels are very costly to produce (16x5's cost as much or more to make than 18x12's)
john
I love my CCW clasics! I loved the drag pack so much, I bought a street set (17 x 9.5 and 18 x 12). John has been awesome and answered the phone on Saturdays when I called needing help
I bought my drags used here, right where Edgar said. The great part is how nice they clean up and shine being bare al. I love them (get my point?)
I would be interested in a set up that would reduce un-sprung weight. Not sure if you could come in lighter then the little CCWs (front with skinnies come in @ 19lbs if I remebr right). Good thread.

John you are a great guy, and I'm really suprised at how much of a gentleman you are...
Most shops would be flaming a possible competitor product to the sky...and you are were willing to throw in advice in this thread...Speaks volumes about your character..

That's why so many of us do business with him. It's not just the great product, it's as if John goes with every sale. Heck I spoke with him repeatedly, for almost a year BEFORE I finally ordered my wheels. He was extremely helpful and I had not even spent a dime.
