Sorry for not searching guys, but I'm using WEBtv and it is extremely slow. I'm down here in FL and my AC has quit working on me. I'm guessing it just needs a recharge, because it was working fine but taking a little while to cool off. Right now when I press the AC button the small light just blinks repeatedly and only hot air blows. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.
I'd say buy a A/C system gauge and some R134 with the high side connector hose from Autozone or the likes. Follow the directions on the can. I don't know about that light blinking though...that's never happened to me. Maybe that's newer vettes.
Connector on the $10 to $20 134 recharge cans goes on the LOW SIDE connector. If you were to put the can on the HIGH SIDE and turn the compressor on you could blow it up in your face. A complete charging hose kit goes for $39.99 at Harbour Freight. Still need a can tapper for about $5 more to refill the system.
The light on the AC button blinks as the compressor is engaging…So if it continues to blink I would assume that your compressor is not fully engaging. There is a pressure sensor in the system that does not allow the compressor to engage if the pressure is too low…so it could be that. Unfortunately, the refrigerant does not wear out or get used up. If you are low on pressure you have a leak. You need to find and fix the leak before you recharge the system. Additionally, If your system has been contaminated with moisture you need to pull a vacuum on the system before recharging.
Well, I had the system hooked up and checked the guy said it was full and good to go; but the compressor starts to engage thens stops. The shop thought it was the HVAC controls as a lot of stuff is burnt out on it anyways. I dunno.

Make sure you connect to the LOW pressure port the fitting is the one closest to the evaporator on the firewall. The fitting next to the radiator is the high pressure...do NOT use that fitting to charge.

I have an extra AC controller / Head unit for the duel Auto system (in excellent condition) that I would sell for $150 shipped. They cost ~$400 from the dealer. They are not hard to change out.
