I am with the others you can step up on the cam a bit. I daily drive my heads and cam Z06 and have put over 20000 miles on it in the past year. The car has Dart 205 heads, a Futral F14 cam (232/234 .600 lift on a 112), and the usual bolt ons. My setup made 452 rwhp and 423 rwtq. The power band is great for driving everyday and the cam rarely acts up.

My Crane cam is built as a 228/232 @112 +5 and .600/.600 lift. This allows me to have a high DCR with a moderate SCR of only 10.95. There is no sacrifice of low end torque, at all, if fact my dyno sheet shows 350 ft/lbs at less than 2300 rpms. I can putt around in traffic is high gears and low revs, and it just pulls away when I goose it. OTOH, it sounds so fackin sweet, I don't often drive like that. Don't buy into the too low/too high cam specs. A nice moderate COMBINATION is what you want. If you had a 2.73 geared A4, your need would be completely different. One other thing. When I installed headers only, I only got about 25 mpg, and now I get over 27, and the tune still needs work.

Well how things have changed... I do realize now there is really no such thing as a mod,it should be referred to from now on as MODS! How things do change as you go. Everything I had decided on changed. I ended up getting together with Tony Mamo at AFR...Then going with Rocky mountain corvette Alex Nelsen in Denver...
Thanks
