Default Run Flat Tires

I have a 1998 C5 with stock Run Flats (about 26K miles). The rear tires have some cracks in the side wall and I would like to replace them with non-run flats and leave the run flats on the front. Two questions:

--Can I mix run flats with non-run flats?????

--What tire do you suggest I use????

Thanks.....

1. Yes you can, but I would not recommend it however. Different handling characteristics can create a dangerous condition in that the front tires will react to cornering inputs differently than the rears. Under emergency maneuvering you can get into some oversteer/understeer issues that you really don't want.
2. I would recommend Goodyear Eagle GS-D3's or BF Goodrich Comp-T/A KDW2s, on all four corners. Believe me, you'll never look back at RFs again.
HTH,
Robert

I have 32000 miles on a set of Pole Positions S03's, Bridgestone, on my 2003 Roadster. Car is much smoother than origionals RF's.
I keep Run Flats on Nancys 99 so I dont have to go get her in case of a flat.

Yes, you can replace fronts and/or rears separately. Expect more grip out of the new tires relative to the old.

There are a bunch of good tires to choose from. And, for those that hperventilate over using non-RF tires, get a good plug kit from www.safetyseal.com (about $35 last I checked) and a small 12V air compressor. Fits in the rear corner "pocket" nicely. I've used it twice on the Vette and once on another car, the plugs held throughout the remainder of the tire's life and is easy to use.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

i know the front size is available but not sure on rear size, but i have had 3 sets of bridgstone fuzions and they were the best tires ive ever had. also they are a really good price, around 120 a piece. Id check to see if those fit your application. they are non run flat also

Do not mix runflats and non-runflats.
The runflats have much stiffer sidewalls. LonestarrFRC has it correct.

Either sell your used RF's on the Forum or buy two used ones on the Forum....if you want the security of runflats.

Personally I opted for the performance of GoodYears GS-D3's
