Whats the least expensive wheel/tire combo you can used a C5 without alot of modifications??? I thought i seen someone using 16in Fbody wheels is that possible?? With like a 26x11.5x16 on our cars?? Skinnies is there anyone beside CCW with a slimmer/lighter wheel to run for track use??? post some pics and what you use to lighten the load and use a better tire/wheel combo. Thanks
You're best bet is the CCW drag pack. I've been racking my brain for something a little less $ since I don't race every weekend but haven't found anything. What I do run right now though is 1998 IROC wheels with MT ET Streets. I use my street tires up front. Little squirrely when closing in on 140 at the top end. I hear conflicting stories on the Drag Pack for correcting the float feeling.

98 iroc , but in all seriousness, the drag pack does track very straight
D@mn.... That is an excellent find!!!!! You can pick them up on ebay for about $20 each!!!!!!!!!
For Tires, I would use a bias 17" Z rated motorcycle tire.
Keith
This is the tire I will be using for the GTO wheel...17" Skinny designed for a 4" wide wheel (Perfect 26" tall)...M&H makes the best drag tire on the market, IMO...and it's the only DOT Legal tire I know of on the market that will fit that wheel....
In the pic it is the OEM spare tires to verify the wheels would fit. I have not found out either way how they would act at the strip and if I need to go with other tires. I think such a short time would not bother them at high speeds, but not 100%.
Rear wheels are 11.5" CCW 500s, 335 Nitto DRs on them.
I see it must be atleast a 16in rim in the rear. However i mentioned my 15x9 weld prostars XP's. These were designed to handle bigger brakes on mustangs/fbods etc. I had 16x8 prostars on my 98 Fbod and still had to grind the caliper. The XP's i had no clearance issues with no grinding. I may just try a test fit tomorrow before i sell them. I doubt highley they would work but the heavens would part if there was a way i could get them to work.

There is no amount of caliper you could grind away to make them fit, safely....
Take a look at my above post about the Diamond Racing 16x10's for $140/each....
I just posted about 6 photos I got from the Cobra guys..

I'm sure it has been tried but another run at it wouldn't hurt. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.
Well my life sucks!!! Its one thing to not fit completely and another to just barely not make it Well the weld prostar XP's do not fit but they are i'd say 1/4 shy from fitting against the knuckle in the rear. I slid it up and I was like ohhh ohhh.... crap! Looked up and it looked like if i was partially insane i could ground away the 2 slight lips on the upper part of the knuckle and i'm sure they would fit. I'd be worried about the structural integrirty of the rear then so its a NO!
Can't someone make a slightly dipped down or thinner rear knuckle so it makes it possible to fit real rims????????????
