Default Coolant leak???

Ok i just got this baby, a 99 coupe, everything is perfect 64k everything i wanted. Last night when i was parked on a hill i had a low coolant code come on, then when i started driving it went away.
THIS MORNING i pulled it out of garage and there was a spot of what i appears to be coolant on the ground. I have NO TOOLS no jacks nothing to jack it up and check to see where the leak is. I'm pretty sure it's not AC because the fluid is slimy reddish. It's on the left back hand side of the motor. Any suggestions?

thanks for reading.

John

slimy red isn't really a good description. is this stuff more like oil or more like water? if it looks and feels like red oil, it's transmission fluid.

Your coolant is probably red. Coolant will wash away from your garage floor with water. Transmission fluid or other differential oil will stain terribly. Seems that the coolant is mostly alcohol and will will slowly evaperate. If your Low Coolant Warning came on, then you are pretty low and should top it off --- coolant plus distilled water --- follow the instructions.
I had similar experience with my 98, but more like a puddle on my driveway. When I crawled under it, I saw red dripps coming off the water pump. But when I took it in, they did a pressure test and said everything was fine - cant find a problem. I changed the thermosat myself because I was afraid it had stuck closed. Still lost more fluid after that, but now I haven't seen any spots on my driveway in a long time. I will wait till the leak is very obvious before I take it in again, and in the meantime, I keep my I on it, and carry a jug of water in the trunk.
